The Principal of the firm is a well-rounded engineering and construction manager. Mr. Desi Joseph
Kiss, M.S., P.E. received his Master Degree in Engineering from
California State University - Fullerton
. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of California (Civil) and Michigan (Structural). In addition
to his duties as the principal of DJK Engineering Mr. Kiss has been teaching at the California State University - Fullerton
since January 2001. He has taught a variety of courses including: civil engineering hydraulics, civil engineering professional
practice, civil engineering and architectural AutoCAD design/drafting, strength of materials, mechanical behavior of materials,
engineering statics and dynamics, earthquake impact on structures as well as computer programming.
Professor Kiss's area of expertise is in the field of structural design and
engineering. Over his 25-year career, he has served in many capacities; most recently as lead structural engineer for Boeing's
Delta IV Rocket Manufacturing Facility in Decatur Alabama, one of the World's largest structures. Mr. Kiss had a lead role on
the structural engineering team that designed and engineered the new National Ignition Facility located in Livermore, California.
The Department of Energy's National Ignition facility is a 2.8 billion-dollar project that houses the World's largest laser.
Mr. Kiss is a member of the American
Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), Structural Engineers Association of California
(SEAOC) and National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA). He has published more than 25 peer-reviewed
papers and structural engineering articles in various US and European professional engineering publications. The latest articles
published in the Modern Steel Construction Magazine and Engineered Systems Magazine are available on the Internet.
Prior to forming DJK Engineering, LLC in 2002, Mr. Kiss held various structural
engineering supervisory positions with large corporations such: Washington Group International (Morrison Knudsen), Parsons
Corporation, The Austin Company and The Walt Disney Company.
